Gertrude Jergenson Johnson
26 March 1892 ---- 2 March 1962

Mrs. Gertrude Johnson of Eagle Grove died suddenly Friday, March 2 next door to her home. Funeral services were held Monday at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenneth Torvik, Pastor, followed by interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Gertrude was born to Ole and Christina Jergensen at Marseilles, Ill., March 26, 1893. About 1900 she moved with her parents to a Wright County farm. She married Joseph Johnson, on March 25, 1914. They farmed in Wright and Humboldt Counties until her husband’s death in 1932. In 1953 she moved to Eagle Grove.

Her parents; her husband, Joe; a brother George and a sister Clara, Mrs. Fred Bruhl, preceded her in death.

She is survived by: 2 daughters, Clarise, Mrs. Carl Tucker of Cedar Rapids and Madora, Mrs. Roy Jeppson of Spencer; 2 grandchildren, Dianne and Debbie Tucker of Cedar Rapids; 4 brothers: Chris and Ode Jergenson of Eagle Grove, Arthur of Kanawha and Sam of Goldfield and 5 sisters: Celia, Mrs. Hans Peterson of Eagle Grove, Lindie, Mrs. Paul Bruhl of Klemme, Beatrice, Mrs. Mac Mathias, of Waterloo, Edna Jergenson of Eagle Grove and Selma, Mrs. Wm. Eaton of Ft. Dodge.

Mrs. Johnson died 24 days short of her 70th Birthday. She was a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church since she moved here in 1953.
