Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Meyer, 72, formerly of Dows, were held at the Presbyterian Church in Dows on Saturday, May 19, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Judith Cook officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows.

She died Thursday, May 17, 1979 at the Iowa Jewish Home in Des Moines, where she had been since February of this year.

She was born January 10, 1907 in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of John and Florence Gregg Foster. She was raised and educated in Ames and graduated from Iowa State University in 1928. She taught at Greene for a short period before her marriage. On June 21, 1930 she was united in marriage to Byron B. Meyer in Ames, Iowa and they moved to Dows.

She was a past Dows School librarian, a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dows, Liberty Club, the Phi Beta Phi and a charter member of the Dows Golf Course.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Barbara) Amend of Des Moines, one son. Richard, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and six grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Willim Funeral Home in Dows had charge of the arrangements.
