Jacob Gord
5 June 1889 ---- 20 October 1959Jacob Gord was born to Swend Mathias and Clara Gord in Norway June 5, 1889 and died in Clarion hospital Oct. 20, 1959. Funeral services held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church Kenneth Torvik, Pastor, Friday at 2:00.
Mr. Gord was baptized and confirmed in Norway and came to this country at the age of 19. He first came to northern Minnesota. On Feb. 18, 1914 he married Sadie Peterson at Holmes and farmed north of Goldfield for 17 years. His wife, Sadie, died March 15, 1915.
On Sept. 20, 1922 he married May Devore at Clarion. For 14 years they farmed south of Thor, until retiring to their present Eagle Grove home.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Sadie, and a brother Claus who died suddenly at Thor Sept. 17, 1957. Surviving are his wife May, one daughter, Cora, Mrs. Walter Roetman of Riceville, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother Carl of Thor, and three brothers and three sisters in Norway. Interment is in Rose Hill Cemetery.
