Larsen Rites Held Sunday

This community was saddened when the word was received of the sudden death of William Larsen on last Tuesday afternoon. He had apparently been in good health until a few days before his death, when he consulted the doctor. On Tuesday he had gone to work at the creamery as usual and early in the afternoon began to feel badly. He went home and in a very few minutes after his arrival there he passed away.

Bill, as he was affectionately known by everyone in this community made a host of friends by his happy disposition. During his years in the creamery he always had a cheery word for each person he met.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church, the Rev. Fred Schultz had charge of the service and burial was in the Glenwood cemetery.

William Larsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morton Larsen, was born January 31, 1898, and died at his home in Goldfield on April 23, 1946. He was united in marriage to Floy Keister on October 4, 1922. While Mr. and Mrs. Larsen had no children of their own, they made a home for their nephew Merle Johnson from the time he was eighteen months of age. He has been serving as a fighter pilot with the army air corps for the past three years and has the rank of first lieutenant. At the time of his foster father’s death he was stationed on Okinawa.

Mr. Larsen united with the Methodist church a number of years ago and has been a faithful member during that time. He has been employed as assistant buttermaker at the Goldfield creamery for the past twenty-three years.
