Lon Stuart Keister, of 1016 Forest Ave., died Wednesday, March 20, at Allen Memorial Hospital of heart failure.

He was born Nov. 5, 1910, in Goldfield, the son of George F. and Christie Anne McCallum Keister. He married Pearl Wall on May 23, 1946, in Waterloo. She died May 8, 1988.

He worked at Deere & Co. for 18 years and retired in 1973. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, William and Ron of Waterloo; a daughter, Karen Rasmussen of Waterloo; and five grandchildren; he was preceded in death by three brothers, three half-brothers, and two sisters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery; visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be military gravesite rites performed by the Becker-Chapman Post 138 of die American Legion and the VFW Waterloo Post 1623; the VFW will also perform a walk-by at 7 p.m. tonight. Memorials are to be directed to the family.
