Mrs. Sarah Braden Dies Near Maroa

Funeral to Be Held Tuesday Afternoon.

Maroa, Dec. 31. – The funeral of Mrs. Sarah E. Braden who died 4:30 o’clock Sunday morning at her home six miles northwest of Maroa, from influenza and old age, will be held in the Christian church in this place at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in the Maroa cemetery.

Sarah E. Kershner was born near Staunton, Va., on April 14, 1853. She moved to Illinois with her parents when a young girl making the trip in a wagon and settling on a home farm south of Kenney. She was married to Solomon G. Braden near Maroa on Sept. 15, 1870. He died Jan. 7, 1924. They began housekeeping on a farm five miles west of Maroa and lived there until Mar. 1, 1892, when they moved to the present home.

Mrs. Braden is survived by the following children: Mrs. R. J. Craig of Maroa, L. E. Braden of near Decatur; Miss Ira M. Braden of Maroa, Mrs. V. G. Lane, Bloomington, and Verven G. Braden of near Clinton. Five grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers also survive her. Mrs. Braden joined the Christian church Sept. 1895.
