Mr. and Mrs. Henry Duerst called on J. Reichter, Mrs. Duerst’s father, who is ill at the Mercy hospital at Ft. Dodge, Sunday.

Goldfield News

Jake Reichter died at the Mercy hospital at Fort Dodge early Tuesday morning. Mr. Reichter has been failing in health for some time and was taken to the hospital last Monday and his condition has been regarded as critical. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Reichter, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Reichter and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Duerst were called to Fort Dodge Sunday and remained with him until his death.

Funeral services will be held at the home of Asa Reichter this afternoon at two o’clock and at two thirty at the Baptist church. A complete obituary will be given next week.

Miss Alta Duerst returned to Iowa Sate college on Sunday after spending the latter part of the last week with her parents and attending the funeral of her grandfather Jake Reichter.

Obituary of Jacob Reichter

Jacob Reichter was born in Ohio August 16, 1852. In his young manhood he went to Maroa, Illinois, and lived there a few years. On March 3, 1881 he was united in marriage to Mary Lucinda Kershner, and in 1882 they moved to Wright County, Iowa, where he farmed first in the vicinity of Holmes, and then a little over thirty years ago, when bereft of his wife arid companion and left with four children to be both a father and mother too, he moved on to a farm in the vicinity of Goldfield. Here he farmed with the help of his children until 1908 when he moved into Goldfield and, spent the remainder of his years. He was a man of quiet and retiring manners, held in respect by those acquainted with him. He will be much missed by his associates.

He was from a family of eight children, being the last one to depart this life.

Those left to mourn his loss are his four children Homer J., of Ionia, Michigan; Mrs. Henry Duerst, Walter A., and Asa Reichter, all of Goldfield, Iowa; also 8 grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He passed away at the Mercy Hospital at Fort Dodge, Iowa, on April 2nd, 1929 at 7 A. M.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Thursday afternoon. Rev. Ira D. Halvorsen had charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. D. M. Simpson.

Relatives in attendance from out of town were: Homer Reichter of Ionia, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bauman, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Peters and Mrs. Henry Peters of Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. John Riley and Mr. and Mrs. Mack McCulloch of Webster City; Mrs. J. Spitler, Belmond; Mr. and Mrs. B. Beach, Blairsburg; Alta Duerst of Ames, and Richard Reichter of Des Moines.
