March 9, 1911 ---- April 25, 1993

Cedar Falls - Marshall A. Larson, 82, 2724 Bicentennial Drive, died Sunday, April 25, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born March 9, 1911, in Kanawha, son of Joe and Sena Asbe Larson. He married Avonne Evans on June 23, 1934, in Tama. Mr. Larson owned and operated the Java Center in Thompson.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marvin of Carl Junction, Mo. and Steven of Milledgeville, Ga.; a daughter, LaRue Hilpipre of Cedar Falls, 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, he was preceded in death by two sisters; a brother, and a grandson.

Services were 10:30 a.m. today at Kanawha Lutheran Church. Burial was in Norway Township Cemetery, Kanawha. Ewing Funeral Home, Kanawha, is in charge of arrangements.

Marshall Larson was born March 9, 1911 in Wright County. He was the third child, of twelve children born to Joe and Sena (Asbe) Larson. He grew up on the family farm until his marriage to Avonne Evans Larson on June 23, 1934 at Tama, Iowa. They had three children. The family lived for ten years in Chicago, where he was a foreman at Republic Steel. In 1952, the family returned to the family farm at Thompson, Iowa. After farming for ten years, Marshall and Avonne became owners and operators of The Java Center in Thompson for ten years before retiring. In 1981 Marshall and Avonne moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa until his death April 25, 1993.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Avonne of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a son, Marvin and his wife, Slyvia of Carl Junction, Missouri; a daughter, LaRue and her, Merv Hilpipre of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a son, Steven and his wife, Ruth of Milledgeville, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Viola and her husband, Dan Sunderman of Hillsboro, Kansas, LaVon Yepsen of West St. Paul, Minnesota, Loraine Thorson of Ankeny, Iowa, Shirley and her husband, Earl Eichner of Milo, Iowa, Virginia and her husband, Dick Logli of Ankeny, Iowa; three brothers, Jerome and his wife, Maxine of Thompson, Iowa, Vernon and his wife, Gerri of Seattle, Washington, Luther of San Diego, California; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Anne Mae Kloppen and Harriet Mackey, a brother, Harley Larson, a grandson, Rickey Larson.
