Mrs. Eliza Belknap, whose illness was mentioned in this paper last week, passed quietly away at the home of her son Wesley, last Saturday morning. The news of her death was no surprise to the community as she was well advanced in years and had been gradually failing for the past few months. Her death was a quiet one, caused by age alone, the deceased having no sickness of any consequence and at the last moment said she felt tired and wanted to go home. Her wish was granted and she passed peacefully to the great Beyond early Saturday morning. Her life stands out a monument of the result of goodness and Christian living, and surely, she will reap its reward. Mrs. Belknap was beloved by all her acquaintance here and although she has been unable of late to go about among her friends, she will be greatly missed and especially so in the home where she has received such tender care and dutiful attention in these last years,

Eliza Belknap was born near Lockport N. Y., December 13, 1813, and died in Goldfield, Iowa, May 12, 1906 in the 93 year of her age. She was the second in a family of eleven children: One older brother, and two brothers and a sister younger survive her. Mrs. Belknap's maiden name was Eliza Carney. She was married to Lacey Belknap near Lockport, N. Y., Feb. 2, 1833 and moved to Licking county, Ohio, in 1835, and lived there until 1854 when they moved to Bureau county, Ill., where they remained until 1881 when they moved to Creston Nebraska. Here the husband died Feb, 16, 1887, and since Mrs. Belknap has made her home with her son Wesley, at this place. She leaves five sons and one daughter to mourn her death, ranging in age from fifty-three to-seventy-two years all enjoying good health. Two sons. W. B„ of Lincoln, Mo.; and Willard, of Creston, Neb., and granddaughter Mrs. Ida Johnson, of Waukegan, Ill., were here to attend the funeral service which was held in the Methodist church of which the deceased was a member, with Rev. Hoelscher in charge, and the remains, were laid to rest in Glenwood cemetery at the side of the husband who had preceded her to the grave nineteen years ago.

Grandma Belknap, who for the past 18 years has made her home with Wesley Belknap of this place, passed away Saturday morning May 12, at the age of 93 years. She had no special sickness but had been gradually failing for some time. All that loving hands could do had been done in this kind home of this aged mother during the sunset period of life. For a great many years Mrs. Belknap had not been able to get out among her many friends or to church services but she was still the same good christian woman to the end. Mr. and Mrs. Belknap did not leave anything undone that they could do for the comfort and happiness of the good mother. Rev. Hoelecher conducted the funeral services Sunday p. m. and she was laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery.
