Ed Haupt, 86, died Tuesday, January 19, 1993, at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa.

Ed, the son of Frank and Katie (Smith) Haupt, was born October 27, 1906, at the Belmond, Iowa. He attended the country school and later worked as a farm hand.

He was united in marriage with Laura Bier on June 4, 1930, at Clarion, Iowa. They made their home west of Belmond and later moved to the Goodell area, where they spent most of their life. They retired to Belmond in 1974. Ed has been a resident of the Kanawha Community Home since November of 1992.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Roger K. (Margaret) Johnson of Kanawha, Iowa; three grandchildren: Ruth Osterbur and her husband, Randall of Quincy, Illinois; Larry R. Johnson and his wife, Charla of Emerson, Iowa; and Duane A. Johnson and his wife, Linda of Cedar Falls, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren: Joshua, Andrea, Laura, Alsion, Kara, Kyle, Jay, and Ashly; five sisters: Mrs. Minnie Olson of Dows, Iowa; Mrs. Hartley (Wilma) Friesleben of Clarion, Iowa; Mrs. Erwin (Mildred) Buseman of Belmond, Iowa; Mrs. Earl (Lorraine) Johnson of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Mrs. Helen Ahrens of Rowan, Iowa; six brothers: Robert, Bernard, and Leo of Belmond, Iowa; Donald of Clarion, Iowa; Raymond and Duane of Dows, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura in August 19, 1987; and a brother Alvin, in January 31, 1987.
