Albert John Olson
29 October 1890 --- 31 January 1974

Rites Held On Saturday
Albert J. Olson, 83, a longtime resident of Algona, died Thursday morning at the Kossuth County Hospital. Funeral services were held the First Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Saturday with Rev. John N. Carlson officiating. Burial was in the Norway Township Cemetery at Kanawha, with the Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Vernon Jensen, Orville Wicks, Duane Habeger, Roger E. Long, Howard Omdahl and John Hood.

Albert Olson was born Oct. 29, 1890 in Humboldt county near Thor, a son of Abal Kjarland and Gurina Chelsvig Olson. The family moved to near Kanawha where he attended rural schools. He later attended Waldorf College during the winter terms. He farmed in Humboldt county and was married to Jessie Davis at Algona Feb. 23, 1915. He was a self-employed carpenter, retiring in 1955. Mr. Olson was also employed for a time at the Good Samaritan Home and the First Lutheran Church in a maintenance capacity.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie, two sons and two daughters: Irvin, Bend, Ore., and Dean of Webster City; Myrtle, Mrs. John Alke of Titonka, and Arlene, Mrs. Mansiel (Bill) Lindhorst, Iowa City. There are 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Four sons died in infancy. One brother, Gerhard, St. Croix Falls, Wisc., and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Foster, Jackson, Minn., also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
