November 30, 1885 --- October 23, 1959

Laura Oliver Folkedahl was born at Badger, Iowa, on Nov. 30, 1885. She was one of 10 children born to Peter and Anna Folkedahl, all of whom preceded her in death.

She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church of Eagle Grove at the age of 14. She later transferred her membership to the United Presbyterian church of Goldfield.

She was united in marriage to Thomas J. Lister of Clarion on Dec. 31, 1904.

To this union five children were born: Peter, who died in infancy, Herman Eugene, who passed away in 1945 at the age of 38, Beatrice (Mrs. Gilbert Hansen) of Ackley, Bernice (Mrs. Orvel Griffith) of Goldfield and Evelyn at home.

Mrs. Lister passed away at her home in Eagle Grove on Friday, Oct. 23, after a lingering illness, leaving to mourn her death, her husband, Thomas J., three daughters, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Service Held For Mrs. Lister Monday, October 26

Mrs. Thomas Lister died at her home on West Broadway, Friday Oct. 23, after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 in the Sacquety Chapel in Eagle Grove and at the United Presbyterian church in Goldfield at 2:30 p.m. Interment was in Glenwood cemetery in Goldfield. The Rev. Kay Mills, pastor of the United Presbyterian church in Goldfield had charge of the services.

Mr. and Mrs. Lister were married on Dec. 31, 1904 and established their home on a farm east of Goldfield where they lived for over 40 years. They have been living at 406 West Broadway in Eagle Grove for the past 12 years.

Mrs. Lister is survived by her husband, Thomas, and three daughters: Mrs. Orvel Griffith of Goldfield, Mrs. Gilbert Hansen of Ackley and Miss Evelyn Lister at home. She was the mother of two sons, Peter who died in infancy and Herman Eugene who died in 1945. Also eight grandchildren. Six of Mrs. Lister’s grandsons served as casket bearers. They were Gilbert and Willis Hansen, William and Roger Griffith and Robert and Kenneth Lister.

Out of town relatives who were here to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hansen and their son Keith of Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hansen, Jr. and son of Grundy Center, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hansen and son of Vinton, William and Roger Griffith of Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lister of Gowrie, Kenneth Lister of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Ronald Roskens and her two daughters, Barbara and Beth of Kent, Ohio
