Alice Serena Hegland Severson, 89, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1995, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.

Alice, the daughter of Jacob and Emma (Simonson) Hegland was born October 17, 1906, near Goodell, Iowa. She graduated from Kanawha High School and attended Teachers’ College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Harvey Severson in 1924 and they made their home on a farm in the Kanawha area until Harvey’s death in 1972, at that time Alice moved into Kanawha. In 1991 she moved into an apartment in Britt.

She enjoyed her family and serving her Lord and church in various capacities in her younger years. She was a member of Kanawha Lutheran Church, Church Women, and Mary Circle.

She is survived by her children: Gordon and Delores Severson of Luther, Iowa and their children: Dwight Severson, Jacquelyn Alleman, Patrice Washington, Craig severson, Carole Klecker and Cheryl Sansgaard; Eugene and Isabelle Severson of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and their children: Christine Rohwedder, Joanne Vogel, Jeffrey Severson and James Severson; Milton and Gloria Severson of Story City, Iowa, and their children: Robert Severson, Mary Ann Peterson; Richard and Kay Severson of Sarasota, Florida, and their children: Lynne Severson, Todd Severson, Bradley Severson, Beth Russell, Julie Jones and Janna Jones; Marlene and Paul Smith of Britt, Iowa, and their children: Jon Paul Smith and Rebecca Nielsen; Roger and Janet Severson of Hubbard, Iowa, and their children: Tami Spindler, Sarah Severson. 35 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Mrs. Gladys Chelsvig, Mrs. Francis Anderson and Mrs. Arlene Zeigler, many nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey in 1972, her parents, her brother, Raymond Hegland, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Richard (Janet) Severson, and grandson, Jerry Severson.

We praise God for His love shown us through our Mother, Grandmother and friend.
