Obituary

Andrew N. Strom, a long time member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, died at Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, Monday morning, Feb. 20, after a long illness, at the age of 85 years and two months.

Funeral services were held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Kenneth R. Torvik, pastor, Wednesday, February 22 at 2 p. m. Interment at Rose Hill cemetery.

Andrew N. Strom was born December 20, 1875 in Norway, where he was also baptized and confirmed in his Christian faith. At the age of 20 he came to the United States in 1896. On November 25, 1903 he married Hannah Erickson of Eagle Grove. From 1902 to the close of 1939 he worked for the Chicago North Western railroad.

His wife Hannah, preceded him in death in 1951. He is survived by one son, Kerner of Clarion, and by three daughters, Signe, Mrs. Justin Thebiay, Eagle Grove, Alice, Mrs. Milford Knutson, Washington, Iowa, and Myrtle, Mrs. Elmer Hanson, Clarion. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and by one older brother in Norway.

Final Rites For Andrew Strom Wednesday Afternoon

Final rites for Andrew Strom, 85, were held Wednesday at the Evangelical Lutheran church.

Mr. Strom died Monday morning at Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge. He had been hospitalized for some time this winter.

He is survived by one son Kerner of Clarion, three daughters Mrs. Justin Thebiay of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Milford Knutson of Washington, Iowa, and Mrs. Elmer Hanson of Clarion, also nine grandchildren and one brother who is in Norway.

Mr. Strom was a long time employee of the Chicago and North
Western railroad and retired in 1939.

Rev. Kenneth Torvik had charge of the services and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, beside his wife who died in 1951.

Andreas Nelson Strom was known in Iowa as Andrew N. Strom. His future wife who he married in Eagle Grove in 1903, Karen Johannah Erickson, was from the same parish in Norway.
