Helen Leona Vroman was born on October 14, 1913, the daughter of Carl and Bertha Olson Vroman, at Radcliffe-Hardin County, Iowa. She was raised and educated, in Goldfield, Iowa. She first worked as a telephone operator in Goldfield. In 1932, she was united in marriage to Vivian G. Beecher. To this union, three children were born. They had lived in Madison, Wis.; Eagle Grove, Iowa; Clinton, Iowa; and back to Goldfield, Iowa, after her husband's death in 1944. On September 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Schultz, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She worked for the USDA in Ames, Iowa, for 22 years until retiring in 1986. She had lived in Goldfield for 12 years, Ames for 27 years and then moved to Clarion, Iowa, in 1989. In 1998, she entered the USA Healthcare in Clarion. She was a member of the United Methodist Church; Clarion, and the Senior Citizen Center.

Helen L. Schultz died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at the USA Healthcare, Clarion, at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband, Donald, Clarion; one son; Leslie Beecher, Eagle Grove; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruby Nelson, Ernie Kiley, both of Kanawha; and Florence Anderson, Clarion. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Vivian; her twins, Jean and Eugene; two brothers, Annis and Orville; and two sisters, Marie Kiley, and Fern Stupka.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clarion with the Reverend Charles Kellogg officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Homes in Clarion was in charge of arrangements.
