Funeral services for Marion Arne, 78, Renwick, were held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the United Methodist Church in Renwick, with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.

She died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996, at her home in Renwick. The Garry - Roberts -Murphy - Schaaf Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Lynn Arne of Lake Preston, SD; Sandra Kay Campbell of Gulf Shores, AL; and Barbara Sue Harvey of Renwick; a son, David Marlin Arne of Westborough, MA; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson; and two sisters, Pauline Cecil of Aptos, CA, and Lorraine Polk of Menlo Park, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmo; and two brothers, Marlin and Wayne.

Marion Arne, daughter of Samuel and Oneida (Badgley) Klassie, was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Renwick. She graduated from the Renwick High School in 1936 and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, with a teaching degree.

In 1940 she married Elmo J. Arne at Duncombe. She taught school in Hartford, SD, for two years. In 1945 the couple moved back to Renwick; moved to Greene in 1952; and back to Renwick in 1955. She was postmaster in Renwick from 1963 to 1967. Her husband retired in 1974, and the couple continued to live in Renwick, in the house where she was born. Her husband died in 1993.
