Lars Tutland died suddenly Sunday morning, January 5, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. C. Hill. His wife having died but two weeks previous to his death, Funeral services were held at the Samuel Lutheran church Wednesday, January 8th, at 2 o'clock p. m., conducted by Rev. Spende.

Mr. Tutland was born in Norway April 8, 1838. In 1874 [1859] he was united in marriage to Belinda Meland. To this union was born four daughters and one son, one son and one daughter having died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Eric Thompson died three years ago. They came to this country in 1866 and settled in Lee county, Illinois until the spring of 1893, when they moved to Wright county and settled on a farm near Holmes. In 1909 they moved to Eagle Grove and made their permanent home. Mr. Tutland's untimely death is mourned by two children, Mrs. Frank Matthaei of Canastota, S. Dak., and Mrs. H. C. Hill of this city. The interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
