Eagle Grove Rites For Horns Monday

Services for Albert Horns, 77, of 1918 Seventh st., will be at 2 p. m. Monday at Eagle Grove, Ia., his former home. Mr. Horns, a retired meat salesman, died Friday night at Mercy hospital.

Albert Horns, 77, died at Mercy hospital in Des Moines, Friday, Dec. 28. The remains were brought to the Wilson Funeral Chapel in Eagle Grove where services were held Monday afternoon with the Rev. Harry Throckmorton in charge. Assisting in the musical part of the service were Mrs. O. A. Conger and Mrs. L. J. Christian, singers, with Mrs. Weld as accompanist. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Horns was born in Ogden, Iowa on April 6, 1868. He grew up in this locality and at the age of 22 he went to Britt where he worked in a meat market until he came to Eagle Grove in the year 1894 and entered a partnership in the meat market with his brother; Otto. He continued in business for some 15 years and from here he went to Boone, Iowa, where he conducted a meat market business for some 5 years. For a number of years he was a meat salesman in Des Moines where he made his home until he passed away.

In the year 1894 he was married to Margaret Carlton of Eagle Grove. To this union was born one daughter, who died in infancy. His wife preceeded him in death in the month of March of last year.

He is survived by three brothers, William of Fort Dodge, Rudolph of Des Moines and Edward of Cedar Falls, besides a number of nieces and nephews.

He and his wife were regular attendants at the First Baptist church of Des Moines during their years of living there.

Mr. Horns was a good neighbor and well thought of by neighbors and business associates wherever he lived.
