Bert Pletcher, 64 Died on Sunday

Funeral services for Bert Pletcher, 64, who died Sunday morning at Clarion Memorial hospital, were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Church of Christ with Rev. Calvin Milan officiating. Mr. Pletcher was a life long resident of Dayton township until 1949 when he retired and with his wife moved to Clarion. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and the Odd Fellows.

Surviving are his wife, Hattie, three daughters, Mrs. Jack Rampelberg of Rowan, Mrs. R. W. Judd of Mason City, Mrs. Gerald Gibson of Minneapolis, Minn., 14 grandchildren three brothers, E. C. Pletcher of Mason City, Amos Pletcher of Eagle Grove, and Walter E. Pletcher of Clarion and one sister, Mrs. Henry Thompson of Cedar Rapids.

Tom Mullnix of Cedar Rapids and Porter Mullnix of Shellsburg visited Tuesday with Amos Pletcher and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Flower Jr. They went to Clarion to attend the funeral of Bert Pletcher, brother of Amos Pletcher.

Hold Services for Bert Pletcher

The funeral services of Bert Pletcher, were held in the Clarion Church of Christ at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, June 16th, 1959 with Calvin Milan, minister of the church, officiating. The Church of Christ quartet, composed of Calvin Milan, E. F. Sheffield, Gifford Holm, and Max Andrews sang three songs: "Beyond the Sunset," "Face to Face", and "Abide With Me''. The organist was Mrs. Calvin Milan.

Pall hearers were: Alry Watts, Eldred Shupe, Don Scott, Leo Woodley, Lawrence White, Benny Duitscher, all of Clarion.

The Eyler Funeral home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements. The burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery of Goldfield.

OBITUARY

Albert Joseph Pletcher was born March 30, 1895 in Dayton Township. He was a son of John and Rebecca Pletcher. He grew up on a farm six miles Southwest of Clarion and attended country school in Dayton Township. He attended Ellsworth College, Iowa Falls, Ia. for one year. He then returned and worked on the home farm until his marriage. On February 14, 1917 he married Hattie Olson at her parents home near Goldfield. They made their home on farms in Dayton Township. To this union four children were born: Paul Eugene; Lois Alberta, Clarabelle, and Normadeene.

Mr. Pletcher passed away Saturday, June 13th, at 11:00 p.m. at the Clarion Memorial Hospital, at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 13 days. His death was due to complications following a long illness. He was preceeded in death by his son, Paul Eugene; his parents, John and Rebecca Pletcher, four sisters, Ethel, Nell, Lela and Ada; and one brother, Earl. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Pletcher; three daughters, Mrs. Lois Rampelberg of Rowan, Iowa, Mrs. Clarabelle Judd of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. Normadeene Gibson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren; three brothers, Mr. E. C. Pletcher of Manson, Iowa, Mr. Amos Pletcher of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Mr. W. E. Pletcher of Clarion, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Rose Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a host of relatives and friends.

He became a member of the Church of Christ when a young man. He served in the choir and was active in all church functions until his health failed. He was a member of the Masonic Cyrene Lodge 325 and the I O O F No. 125 He was active in the Farm Bureau and community projects.
