BELMOND – Obed R. Kallestad, 79, of Belmond, died Wednesday (Nov. 23, 1988) at the Concord Care Center, Garner, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Jim Carpenter and the Rev. Bill Bentzinger officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at Fulton Funeral Home, Belmond.

He was born May 18, 1909, in Wright County, the son of John and Anna E. (Ersland).

He married Kathlyn Mikesh on July 18, 1957. He worked as a farmer, carpenter and did masonry work. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include five step-daughters, Mrs. Robert (Colina) Haan, Miller; Mrs. Edwin (Gladys) Shahan, Belmond; Mrs. Grace Zaspel, Goodell; Mrs. Ruby Dwyer, Harpers Ferry, and Mrs. John (Constance) Roley, Annandale, Minn.; two stepsons, George Mikesh and Charles Mikesh, both of Belmond; and two sisters, Mrs. Josie Riley, Minneapolis, Minn., and Alpha Kallestad, Belmond.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and three brothers.
