May 2, 1909 --- January 11, 1996

Eunice Withers, 86, Webster City, died Jan. 11, 1996, at the Hamilton County Public Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30.a.m. Monday, at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The casket wall be taken to the church at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Edna Eunice Horton, daughter of Harvey and Gertrude McVickey [McVicker] Horton, was born May 2, 1909. She attended schools in Eagle Grove and graduated in 1927. On June 3, 1928, she married Frank Todd Withers in Nashua. The couple resided in Chicago and moved to Woodstock, Ill. In 1931, they moved to Eagle Grove and later that year to Webster City. She had been employed at Morton Foods, at the Willson Hotel as a cook and at the former Hilltop Care Center.

She is survived by daughter, Karen Mertz McDowell, Perry; son and daughter-in-law, Colby and Joyce Withers, Readlyn; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emily Fisher, Webster City, Daisy Grandgeorge, Iowa Falls, brothers, Harvey Horton, Osakis, Minn., Russell Horton, Fort Dodge; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Withers; daughter, Charmaine Long Book; two grandchildren; and one sister. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in church work.
