December 24, 1867 --- May 26, 1937

Wm. Knight, who has been making his home for some time with his daughter, Mrs. George Hoffmann, suffered a severe stroke last Friday afternoon while out in the field. George saw him fall to the ground and with the assistance of Mrs. Hoffmann, carried him to the house. He was unconscious for several days and died Wednesday morning. He was 69 years old and is survived by his wife and daughter and one son, Ralph Knight of Pierre, S.D., who was here at the time of his father’s death.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Christian church in Goldfield and burial will be made there.

W. C. KNIGHT SUFFERS STROKE

W. C. Knight died Wednesday at 9 a. m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m.

W. C. Knight former resident of this community, suffered a paralytic stroke at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Hoffman near Renwick on Thursday evening. He has not regained consciousness since that time. His entire right side is paralyzed. On Sunday his son, Ralph Knight of Pierre, So. Dak., arrived there.

On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Knight, Mr. and Mrs. R. Samuels, Mr. and Mrs. J. Knight and Fred Knight all were at Renwick at the Hoffman home during the day.

William Charles Knight was born the first son of Thomas L. and Hannah Shore Knight at Woosung, Ill., December 24, 1867, and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eura Hoffman, Renwick, Iowa, May 26, 1937, being 69 years, 5 months and 2 days old.

He was married to Lillian Derr at Dixon, Ill., March 21, 1891, and to them three children were born, two of whom survive him, Ralph of Pierre, S. D., and Mrs. Eura Hoffman of Renwick, one child having died in infancy. There are three grandchildren.

Other surviving relatives are three brothers and four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Robinson of Mason, Mich., F. F. Knight, Thomas A. Knight, Jay Knight and Mrs. Celestia Samuels of Goldfield, Mrs. Lottie L. Miller of Ada, Minn., and Mrs. Nellie Leach of Dixon, Ill.

Mr. Knight became a member of the Methodist church early in life and October 11, 1908, united with the Church of Christ at Goldfield. He was made a Master Mason by the A. F. & A. M. He entered government service in the postal department February 1, 1903, and operated a mail route out of Goldfield until February 28, 1916. He was employed by the Whyte Hardware & Implement Co. for many years and later resided at the home of his daughter until his death.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Church of Christ in Goldfield with Rev. W. P. Clark of Eagle Grove officiating. Burial was made at Glenwood cemetery.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral included: Ralph Knight of Pierre, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Dan Robinson of Mason, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Waldron of Lansing, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. James G. Leach of Dixon, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Miller of Ada, Minn., Mrs. Austin Shore of Woosung, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Samuels, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Knight, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Knight, Kenneth and Linn Knight, Fred Knight and Mrs. and Mrs. Glen Samuels of Goldfield. Mr. and Mrs. James C. Holt of Gowrie, Mrs. and Mrs. Homer Eggleson of Delevan, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Knight of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Samuels of Humboldt, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. David Grandgeorge of Eagle Grove.
