Herbert R. Bard Funeral Today
Herbert R. Bard, 74, was found dead in his bed in Mason City early Monday morning. He was in Mason City to be near his wife who is a surgical patient in Mercy Hospital and had taken a room in a home nearby.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. this (Thursday) afternoon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in charge of Rev. H. W. Schiller. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bard is survived by three sons, Harold of Eagle Grove; Richard and Stanley of Lincoln, Neb.; 15 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Short of Cedar Falls.

Mr. Bard was born in Pilot Mound Sept. 24, 1901, and attended the schools there. He was married to Selle Matilda Knutson of Eagle Grove on Sept. 24, 1922 in Boone. They returned to Eagle Grove and have made their home here continuously since that time. He was employed by the Chicago and North Western R. R. from 1924 to 1964 when he retired on account of disability. He was a brakeman and conductor during that time. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Conductors and Trainmen, the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.
