Braden B. Stoakes funeral Friday
Services for Braden B. Stoakes, 71, retired Goldfield mail carrier died Tuesday evening in the Clarion hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the United Presbyterian Church and burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Fountain City Lodge 589 of the Masonic order, will have services at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove Thursday night at 8 o'clock.

Mr. Stoakes is survived by his wife, two sons, Dr. Jack Stoakes, Goldfield; W. Ken Stoakes, Mason City; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald McMenamin, LaCrosse, Wis. Other survivors are six grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Clifford Ballou, Eagle Grove, and one brother, F. Kenneth Stoakes, Sun City, Calif.

Braden Stoakes funeral Friday
Braden Barbour Stoakes was born May 24, 1902, at Valeria, Ia., the son of Henry and Ida Braden Stoakes. He attended school at Valeria for a time and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1921. He began working at the Goldfield post office in 1919 and was appointed rural letter carrier in 1921 retiring on September 16, 1969 after 48 years of service in the Goldfield-Hardy area.

Braden was united in marriage to Eathyle McGowan June 21, 1933 at Goldfield. To this union three children were born: Dr. Jack of Goldfield; Jo Ann (Mrs. Ron McMenamin of LaCrosse, Wis.); and W. Ken of Mason City.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church where he served as treasurer for many years, a charter member of the Goldfield Lions Club, a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association, and the Fountain City Masonic Lodge No. 589. He served 12 years on the Goldfield school board.

Mr. Stoakes passed away at the Clarion Community Hospital on Tuesday, May 29, at the age of 71 years and five days. He had been a patient there for nine days and has been in ill health for some time.

Surviving are the widow, Eathyle; three children; six grandchildren; brother, F. Kenneth, Sun City, Calif.; sister, Mrs. Clifford Ballou, Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 1, at the United Presbyterian Church. Rev. Marion Blake officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery.
