ObituaryJames Arthur McGowan was born January 12, 1903 at Goldfield, Iowa, the son of James and Jessie Young McGowan.
He received his education in the Renwick schools.
On December 12, 1939 he married Rachel Hefty in Lohrville, Iowa. They made their home on the family farm until 1951 when they moved to a farm near Renwick. He retired in 1975 because of illness.
He died on May 27, 1976 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn. at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 13 days.
He is survived by his wife Rachel, one son; one daughter, two brothers: Robert, Fort Dodge; Arlo, Livermore; four sisters: Mrs Guy Peterson, Dows; Mrs. Jessie Helmke, Humboldt; Mrs. Eathyle Stoakes, Goldfield; Mrs. Rudy Amosson, Goldfield; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 29 at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Rev. Wm. McConnellee officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
