Mary Bjornson

CORWITH - Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church In Corwith for Mrs. Mary A. Bjornson, 94, Corwith, who died Thursday at the hospital in Britt. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Melvin Hughett, Des Moines, and Mrs. Elmer Krauss and Mrs. Marvin Sloan, both of Corwith; a son, Dr. Harold, Palo Alto, Calif.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother. William McCutcheon, Eagle Grove, and three sisters, Mrs. Clifford Axon and Mrs. Glen Trotter, both of Goldfield, and Mrs. Paul Pardeen [Pardun], Clarion.

Service For Mary Bjornson At Corwith

Mrs. Frank (Mary A.) Bjornson, 94, of Corwith, died Thursday, March 18, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. George Bauman the officiating pastor. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield with the Blake Funeral Home of Corwith in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Forrest Eckels, Everett McCutcheon, Lawrence McCutcheon, LeRoy Umstead, Merle Bjornson and Ben Bjornson, all nephews.

Born Sept. 11, 1881 at Traer, Ia., Mary McCutcheon was a daughter of William and Martha Stevenson McCutcheon. She was married to Frank Bjornson at Eagle Grove Feb. 26, 1907. Her husband died in 1951.

She is survived by three daughters and one son; Luva, Mrs. Melvin Hughett, Des Moines; Martha, Mrs. Elmer Krauss, and Alice, Mrs. Marvin Sloan, both of Corwith; and Dr. Harold Bjornson, Palo Alto, Calif. There are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

One brother and three sisters also survive; William McCutcheon, Eagle Grove; Luella, Mrs. Clifford Axon, and Bessie, Mrs. Glen Trotter, both of Goldfield; and Martha, Mrs. Paul Pardeen [Pardun], Clarion, Mrs. Bjornson was a past member of Gertrude Chapter No. 500 of O.E.S. at Renwick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one granddaughter, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Mary Bjornson is buried here

Mrs. Mary A. Bjornson formerly of Goldfield, 94, died Thursday at Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.

Surviving are children: Mrs. Melvin Hughett, Des Moines; Mrs. Emer Krauss, Corwith; Mrs. Marvin Sloan, Corwith; and Dr. Harold Bjornson, Palo Alto, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother and sisters: William McCutcheon, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Clifford Axon, Goldfield; Mrs. Glen Trotter, Goldfield; and Mrs. Paul Pardun, Clarion.

Mary McCutcheon was born in Traer. She married Frank Bjornson in 1907 at Eagle Grove where they made their home until 1960 when they moved to Corwith. Mr. Bjornson died several years ago. She was a member of Gertrude Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Renwick.

Attending the funeral from here were Mrs. Luella Axon, Mr. and Mrs. Merv Axon, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Axon, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence McCutcheon, Mr. and Mrs. Everett McCutcheon, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Oviatt, Mrs. Mamie Cunningham, Mr. and Mrs. Eliot Sevareid, Mrs. Genevieve Stevenson, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stevenson, Beulah Schipull, Mrs. Laura Schipull, Mr. and Mrs. Verven Reichter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harvey and R. E. Schipull.

Mrs. Harry Crovisier attended funeral services for an aunt, Mrs. Mary Bjornson at Corwith, Saturday morning. In the evening, Mrs. Crovisier attended a bridal shower for Diane Johnson in the home of Mrs. Franklin Copp at Eagle Grove.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kraft, Sr. attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary Bjornson of Corwith on Saturday, who was 95 [94] years old.
