Goldfield Rites For Wife of School Principal

Funeral services were held for Mrs. John R. (Jack) Jones, 44, at Goldfield Saturday, January 27. Services were held at 2 p. m. in the Methodist church with the Rev. Benjamin Price officiating. Interment was in the Glenwood cemetery with the Kastler Funeral home of Eagle Grove in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Jones a widely known Goldfield resident and wife of the school principal, died at her home Wednesday morning.

The former Ruth LaVonne McCutcheon, she was born and reared at Goldfield. Besides her husband, she is survived by two children Bruce William and Candace Beth; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William D. McCutcheon of Goldfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Norma Jean Rules [Krebs] of Corwith, Mrs. Barbara Duitscher of Clarion and Mrs. Wilda Hurshman of Denver, Colorado.

Ruth LeVonne [LaVonne] Jones, oldest child of William and Clara McCutcheon was born on a farm just north of Goldfield, July 19 [17], 1917. She attended the country school in the area and graduated from the Goldfield High School with the class of 1935. She continued her education going to the State Teachers College. Upon completion of her education she taught a rural school for eight years.

On March 8, 1946 she was united in marriage to John R. Jones and they established their home in Goldfield. To this union three children were born, Bruce William, Nancy Jane who died in infancy and Candace Beth.

Ruth was baptized in the Goldfield Christian Church at the age of 13 Dec. 4, 1950 she transferred her member ship to the First Methodist Church in Goldfield where she continued to be a faithful member.

After a short illness she passed away at her home Jan. 25 [24], at the age of 44 years, 6 months and 5 [7] days. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband John R., her son Bruce William and her daughter Candace Beth, her parents Mr. and Mrs. William D. McCutcheon, three sisters, Mrs. Cecil Hurshman of Denver, Col., Mrs. Joel Duitscher of Clarion and Mrs. Ben Krebs of Corwith.

Ruth will long be remembered by her pleasant smile and her cheerful disposition. She was always ready to give a helping hand. Her first concern was her family. She was a thoughtful and loving wife, mother and friend to all. She will be greatly missed in the Goldfield community where she had spent her entire life.
