Madeleine Dorette Culver
23 May 1911 --- 5 January 1963

Mrs. Earl O. Culver, whose husband was once superintendent of schools at Durant, died Jan. 5 in Strasburg, Colo. Death was due to pneumonia, following a long period of inactivity after she broke both hips. She was the niece of the late Mrs. John Burch of Springdale.

She was born Madeleine Dorette Struck at Hampton. Before her marriage she taught social science at Kanawha. She also taught in St. John's Military academy.

Her husband is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Culver, who operated the East Side café in West Branch for a number of years. He was superintendent of schools at Durant and Wellman and was an instructor at St. John's Military academy for 12 years. He was on active duty in the army from 1941 to 1960 when he retired as a lieutenant colonel.

Mrs. Culver is survived by her husband, 2 daughters, Barbara Dorette and Shelly Jane, a sister and 2 brothers.
