Sadie Amelia Weland Amosson
14 March 1893 –-- 29 January 1974

Sadie Amelia Weland was born March 14, 1893 in Wright County near Holmes, Ia., the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Ulstad Weland. She received her education in a rural school near Holmes. She was united in marriage to Osmund Amosson of Eagle Grove on January 11, 1911, at her parent's home. The couple farmed near Holmes, Goldfield, Hardy and then farmed near Garner until Mr. Amosson passed away in 1963. After his death, Mrs. Amosson moved to Eagle Grove to make her home. She died at Trinity West Hospital, Fort Dodge, on Tuesday, January 29, at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 15 days.

She is survived by one son, Rudolph Amosson, Goldfield; three daughters, Olga, Mrs. Walter McCormick, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Everett Matson, Redmond, Wash.; June, Mrs. John Oren, Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Simpson, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Harold Reynolds, Seal Beach, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one infant son, Donald Duane; two brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Amosson was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church, the Priscilla Circle and the Friendship Club.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Fri., February 1, at the Samuel Lutheran Church. Pastor P. Lauritz Mork officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
