She was united in marriage to N. C. Duerst January 12, 1879, to which union were born four children, two of which died in infancy.

She spent her life on farms in Wright and Humboldt counties, except the last eight and one-half years which were lived in the home where she passed away.
She was a charter member of the Rebecca lodge at Goldfield, always at her post to minister to the sick or distressed. She was also a member of the Oakdale Chapter of the Daughters of Ceres.
Mrs. Duerst possessed the helpful, sturdy pioneer qualities, which helped to change this community from the wilderness of the ‘60’s to what it is today and did her full share all along the years.
Wife, Mother, sister and grandmother is gone but not forgotten.
The funeral was held at the M. E. church Friday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. DeWitt preaching and the church was filled with sorrowing friends and neighbors. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and were a fitting tribute from the friends and relatives left to mourn Mrs. Duerst’s loss.
A male quartet consisting of Messrs. Hinton, Wallace, Cunningham and Bell rendered three musical selections.
The Ladies of the Rebekah Lodge attended in a body and had charge of the services at Glenwood Cemetery where the body was laid to rest. Mr. Duerst and family have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in the time of bereavement.
