A son was welcomed at the Earnest Jones home Jan. 6th, and son No. 3 was born at the Bert Beck home Jan. 4th, also a son at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Axon, Dec. 31st.

Roy Axon memorial in U.P. Church

Memorial services for Roy S. Axon, 63, a longtime Goldfield resident, were held on Saturday, November 24, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church with Pastor C. William Mc- Connelee officiating.

Mr. Axon, the son of Peter and Rosa Steffen Axon, was born at Goldfield December 31, 1909 and died at his home on November 21 at the age of 63 years, 10 months, and 21 days.

He received his education in the Goldfield Public School and graduated with the class of 1927.

On October 13, 1934 he was united in marriage to Bessie Stevens at Fairmont, Minn. They farmed near Goldfield all except two years, which were spent on a farm near Fort Dodge.

Mr. Axon is survived by his wife Bessie, two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Barbara) Stoakes, Goldfield; and Mrs. Edwin (Mary) Michaelson, Dover, Del.; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lew (Margaret) Milota, Davenport; and one brother, John of Traer. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder and also Sunday School superintendent for a number of years. He also was a charter member of the Goldfield Lions Club.

At his request, his body was donated to the University of Iowa Medical School and his eyes to the Lions eye bank.

Funeral Services For Roy S. Axon

Memorial services for Roy S. Axon, 63, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Goldfield Presbyterian Church. Mr. Axon died Wednesday at his home following a sudden illness. He had donated his body to the University of Iowa college of Medicine. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, is in charge.
