Eleanor Slaikeu Schradle
23 November 1912 --- 19 April 1983Eleanor Irene Schradle, the daughter of Alva and Lydia Nicoll Slaikeu, was born at Harris, Iowa on Nov. 23, 1912. She moved with her parents to Worthington, Minn. in 1918. The family moved to the Eagle Grove area in 1928. She received her education in Worthington and later graduated from the Eagle Grove High School. On May 4, 1940, she was united in marriage with Albert Schradle at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Illinois for two years and then moved to a farm southwest of Goldfield, where they lived until 1967, when they moved to their present home south of Goldfield. She was a long-time member of the United Presbyterian Church and had served on various boards and committees of the church. She was also a member of the Evergreen DOC Club, and loved to grow flowers and was an avid gardener.
She died on Tuesday morning, April 19, 1983, after suffering a heart attack, while visiting friends and playing cards at the Allen Korslund farm home near Goldfield. She attained the age of 70 years, four months and 26 days.
She is survived by her husband, Albert of Goldfield; two brothers, Donald Slaikeu of Goldfield and Richard Slaikeu of Eagle Grove; her stepmother, Mrs. Margaret Slaikeu of Eagle Grove and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Forest Slaikeu.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Schradle, were held on Friday, April 22, 1983 at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Rev. Walter Morz officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield. Visitation was held on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
