Albion Harley Whittier
24 June 1897 ---- 3 June 1939

The funeral of Albion H. Whittier who was fatally injured in an accident last Wednesday at Brazil, Ind. was held Wednesday afternoon from the Wilson Funeral Chapel. The accident in which Mr. Whittier was involved was briefly mentioned in Thursday's Eagle, but the details were not available at the time. Marion Whittier of this city left for Brazil as soon as he received word of the accident and remained with Albion until his death. The body was brought to Eagle Grove Monday morning.

Mr. Whittier was riding in a truck which crashed into another car and he died Saturday evening in the Clay County Hospital near Brazil.

For over twenty years Mr. Whittier had been a truck driver in the Middle West, and at the time of his death was driving a route from St. Louis. Mo., to Terre Haute, Ind. He was riding as a passenger at the time of the accident, with the man who had just relieved him of his duty.

Mr. Whittier was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Whittier of this city. He was born in Chicago and moved with his parents when 10 years of age, to a farm near Forest City. When the family moved here he hired out as a fireman on the C. & N. W.

He is survived by his brother Merlon Whittier of this city, and four sisters, Mrs. Ed Conlon of Fargo, N. D., Mrs. M. R. Thebiay of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. B. H. Peasley of Arnolds Park, and Mrs. B. W. Miller of DeQueen, Ark.

Funeral services were in charge of the Rev J. R. Tumbleson of the First Methodist church, and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery beside his parents.
