ERNEST LINWOOD KELL

Ernest Linwood Kell was born June 12, 1889, the son of George W. and Mary Clapp Kell, at Ayrshire. He was raised in his parents home in the Ayrshire/ Ruthven area until 1906, at the age of 17, when the Kell family relocated to Eagle Grove.

Ernie served his country during World War I with the U. S. Army, enlisting on June 26, 1918, and being honorably discharged on June 16, 1919.

Shortly after his return from the service, Ernest married Emma Kassner of Thrall, on April 16, 1921 at Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove.

He was employed all of his working life as a tiler. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.)

Ernest Kell died August 14, 1989 at the Southfield Care Center, Webster City, at the age of 100 years, two months, and two days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray; and one sister, Myrtle Clawson.

He is survived by his wife Emma, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Anton "Tony" (Marjorie) Tysdal, Mountain Home, Ark.; and Mrs. Kenneth "Pat" (Irene) Eldredge of Roland; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on August 17 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Scott C. Hall of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, officiated, and interment was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
