Alvin Merle Steffenson
21 August 1921 ---- 18 August 1982

Alvin Merle Steffenson, the son of Andrew and Myrtle Chapman Steffenson, was born at Clarion, Iowa on August 21, 1921. He grew up on a farm near Goldfield and received his education in the rural schools. During World War II, Alvin served in the U.S. Army. On April 21, 1950, he was united in marriage with Ruby Bennett. Mr. Steffenson had lived in Eagle Grove for the past twenty years.

He died on Wednesday, August 18, 1982 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 27 days. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Jackie Steffenson of Fort Dodge; one grandson, Travis Steffenson of Fort Dodge; three sisters, Mary Ann, Mrs. Robert Lane of Renwick; Merlyn, Mrs. Jerry Tjelle of Ida Grove; Betty, Mrs. Kurt Sunner of Laurens; five brothers, Carol, Orville and Kenneth Steffenson, all of Goldfield; Norman Steffenson of
Broken Arrow, Okla.; Andrew Steffenson of Wellston, Okla.; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Alvin M. Steffenson were held on Saturday, August 21, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Thomas Jolivette officiated and burial was in the family lot at the Holmes Lutheran Cemetery near Holmes. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday.
