Funeral services were held for Edward Baltz Wohlwend, 52, at the Lutheran church Saturday afternoon Feb. 11, with the Rev. Edward Swenson officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove.

Mr. Wohlwend died Thursday, Feb. 9 at University Hospitals at Iowa City where he had been a patient for six weeks.

He was born Feb. 1, 1909 at Thompson, the son of Baltz and Ida Shalow Wohlwend. He was reared and attended school at Thompson and was married to Ruth Crabtree at Bisbee, Ariz., in April of 1929.

Mr. Wohlwend was associated with his father for many years in the hardware business here [Thor], later engaging in construction work. He was employed at the Thor Grain Co. at the time he became ill. Surviving are his wife Ruth, three daughters, Roxanna and Ruth Ellen at home, Mrs. Richard Stocker, Iowa City, a son Dr. Bruce Wohlwend of Iowa City, four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Roy Grabe of Grayslake, Ill.
