Adam H. Wasem was born June 6, 1852, in New York City. He was the son of John and Ann Wasem. When he was four years old he came with his parents to Eagle Grove and settled on the farm two miles west of town near the Boone River.

On Feb. 22, 1879 he was united in marriage to Sarah M. Arnold of Iowa City. To this union three sons were born: John, who died in infancy; Homer and Harry of Eagle Grove. At the time of his marriage he moved to a farm three miles west of Eagle Grove. In 1882 he went into the mercantile business in this city.

Of late years he has been a resident of Chicago, Ill., where he passed away on Jan. 31, 1929, at the age of 76 years, seven months and 25 days. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.

Mr. Wasem was the oldest of a family of 12 children. Of that number the following still survive him: three brother, John, Edward, and Will, and one sister, Millie Baker.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Foll & Wilson Funeral parlors. The sermon was preached from Psalms 46.1 by Rev. W. G. Muhleman, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery by the side of his father and mother.
