Michael Lee Koepke, 64, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Felix and Oscars in Des Moines.
Michael was born January 21, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, to Henry and Evelyn (Gerst) Koepke. He grew up in and was a 1973 graduate of Eagle Grove.
Mike worked in concrete construction for many years. During his years at Eagle Grove High School, he held many records for wrestling and track. Later, he enjoyed participating in arm wrestling competitions. Mike was a muscle car aficionado and took his kids to all the car shows. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating and water skiing, most weekends were spent on Saylorville with his family.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Todd) McManus of North Liberty, Iowa, Holly (Scott) Long of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Lee (Jessica) Koepke of Mitchellville, Iowa; grandchildren, Lilly, Gabe, Drake, Brooklyn, Brody, Noah, Brittany; significant other, DeAnn Umphress; mother, Evelyn (Jack) West; sister, Cheryl Naylor; brother, Hank "Heine" (Cindy) Koepke Jr. of Goodyear, Arizona; nephew, Sean Schrodt; niece, Ashley Koepke. He was preceded in death by his father and infant sister, Susan.
