Willard Blair Thomason
12 January 1896 --- 21 January 1978

Willard Blair Thomason, the son of William and Jennie Herron Thomason, was born January 12, 1896 at Eagle Grove. He was educated at the Head Grove School near Eagle Grove. He was a World War I veteran and served 18 months overseas.

On February 23, 1921, he was married to Florence Thompson of Eagle Grove at the home of her parents. Following their marriage they made their home on a farm east of Eagle Grove. Willard retired in 1967, but they continued to make their home on the farm.

He died Saturday, January 21, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge at the age of 82 years and nine days.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; two sons – Dale Thomason, Eagle Grove and Orin Thomason, Cedar Rapids; three daughters - Phyllis (Mrs. Clarence) Fyfe, Des Moines; Dolores (Mrs. Austin) Herman, Des Moines; Wilma (Mrs. Darrell) Goetsch, Fort Worth, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Thomason, Eagle Grove and Leonard Thomason, Boone; and three sisters, Mrs. Esther Pool, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Ruth Newcomb, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Hazel Thompson, Belmond. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 24, at 2 p.m. at Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home. Rev. Don Callen of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
