George Frederick Schlesinger
3 November 1901 --- 4 August 1983

George Frederick Schlesinger, the son of Julius and Matilda Frisbie Schlesinger, was born at Goldfield, Iowa on Nov. 3, 1901. He grew up and received his education in the Goldfield area. During his life, he had lived in various places and in 1942, be moved from Thor to Fort Dodge, where he was employed at the Tobin Packing Company and later at the Fort Dodge Ice Company, where he worked until he retired and moved back to Goldfield.

After he moved back to Goldfield, he worked at cemetery work and did lots of yard work for other people. He was also an avid gardener and took great pride in his garden. For the past 16 years, he had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Flora Eggerth.

He died on Thursday night, Aug. 4, 1983 at the Clarion Care Center in Clarion, Iowa, having attained the age of 81 years, 9 months and one day.

He is survived by two sons, David Schlesinger of Fort Dodge and Clifford Schlesinger of Tulsa, Okla; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; his sister, Ms. Flora Eggerth of Goldfield; a niece, Mrs. Floyd (Alys Stroud) Luloff of Jesup, Iowa; a nephew, Durward Stroud of Pittsburg, Calif. and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for George F. Schlesinger, 81, of Goldfield, were held on Monday, Aug. 8, 1983 at 11 a.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. David Nissen, pastor of the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield officiated and burial was in the family lot at the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.
