December 16, 1892 --- May 25, 1945

Elmer Thompson, 53, died at the Veteran's hospital at Des Moines early Friday morning. He had been a patient there for several weeks and his death was the result of a heart attack. He is survived by his wife and five children, Y2-c Delores Thompson of Alameda, Calif., F1-c Richard Thompson, with the Navy in the south Pacific and Arnold, Shirley and Grace Thompson who live at home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Wilson Funeral Chapel at Eagle Grove. The service was in charge of Rev. Severtson, pastor of the Lutheran church at Eagle Grove. Burial was in Goldfield at Glenwood cemetery.

Elmer Thompson was born December 16, 1892, near Goldfield and died at the Veterans hospital, Des Moines Friday, May 25, 1945, age 52 years, 5 months and 9 days. On April 23, 1921 he was united in marriage to Miss Selma Larson. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have lived in the vicinity of Goldfield since their marriage.

Five children were born to this marriage, who now, together with Mrs. Thompson, mourn the death of their husband and father. They are Arnold Thompson, who was recently honorably discharged from the service; Delores Thompson, in the WAVES, stationed at Alameda, Calif., Richard Thompson, F1-c and Shirley, and Grace at home. He is also survived by one brother, Ed Thompson of Goldfield, Mrs. Hans P. Rasmussen of Goldfield and Mrs. F. L. Pinder of Des Moines.

Mr. Thompson served in World War I, and received his honorable discharge. His health has failed gradually for some time. He entered the Veteran's hospital at Des Moines for treatment on April 28.

THOMPSON RITES HELD

Eagle Grove – Funeral services were held Tuesday for Elmer Thompson, 52, who died at the Veteran's hospital in Des Moines Friday. Services were held at Wilson's funeral chapel conducted by the Rev. T. J. Severtson, pastor of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was in the Goldfield cemetery. The wife and 5 children survive.
