Louis Lindsay Dies After Long Illness

Funeral services for Louis L. Lindsay, 77, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Kastler Funeral Home with the Rev. Lyle Lieder officiating.

Mr. Lindsay died Monday at his home following a lingering illness. He had been ill and bed fast for many years at the family home on South Lucas Ave.

Mr. Lindsay is survived by his wife, the former Mable Jenson [Jensen], their three daughters, Bonnie, Mrs. James Bean of Belcourt. N. D., Mary Ellen, Mrs. Vernon Jensen of this city, and Dixie, Mrs. Harold Janssen of LeMars, and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Mr. Lindsay was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ky. For twenty-nine years he was an engineer on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and the family lived in Chicago before moving to Eagle Grove.

He was a member of the Methodist church and the Masonic Orders.

Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Louis L. Lindsay, son of Sam and Lula Lindsay was born Jan. 21, 1887 and died Jan. 4, 1965 at the age of 77 years, 11 months, 14 days.

He was married to Mable Jensen of Eagle Grove, then of Chicago, Sept. 28, 1929. Three daughters came to bless their home: Mrs. James N. Bean (Bonnie), Belcourt, N.D., Mrs. Vernon J. Jensen (Maryellen) Eagle Grove, and Mrs Harold Janssen (Dixie Lee) of LeMars.

Mrs. Lindsay, daughters and 10 grandchildren survive. He was preceeded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.

Mr. Lindsay was an engineer on the Baltimore and Ohio R.R. and various southern R.R.'s since the age of 16, retiring in December 1955. Mr. Lindsay has been bedfast since October 1958 following a stroke. Mr. Lindsay was a member of the First Methodist church and the Masonic, lodge. He joined the Masonic lodge in Poukeepsie, Ark. He later transfered his membership to Eagle Grove.

While employed on the R.R. Mr. Lindsay was faithful to every duty imposed on him as evidenced by the many letters of regret concerning his retirement from the officials of the B. & O. road. His having to retire due to ill health was a great sorrow to him for he loved his work and his companions on the B. & O.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon Jan. 6 at the Kastler Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Lyle Lieder. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Here to attend the funeral for Louis Lindsay were his sons in law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. James Bean and three children of Belcourt, N.D., Mr. and Mrs. Harold Janssen and family of LeMars, and Mr. Janssen's parents Mr. and Mrs. Dick Janssen of Hawarden.
