ROBERT C. KASTLER

Robert Clifford Kastler, son of George and Mary Schoenenberger Kastler, was born November 27, 1908 on a farm east of Woolstock. He attended rural schools in that area. On December 4, 1929 he married Gladys Mae Loux at Webster City. The couple farmed east of Woolstock until they retired in 1974. Mrs. Kastier died in March of 1991 and he continued to reside on his farm. He was a member of the Woolstock United Methodist Church, a longtime member and former board member of the Woolstock United Cooperative, a member of the Ban de la Roche, was a member of one of the first organized softball teams in Iowa and later was an umpire for many years.

Robert (Buster) Kastler, 86, died Saturday, August 5, 1995 at the Clarion Memorial Hospital at Clarion. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Kastler of Mazeppa, Minn., Carol and Marlene Kastler of Mason City, Larry and Darlene Kastler of Woolstock, Kenneth and Jamie Kastler of Erzenhausen, Germany; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Odette Kastler of Woolstock; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and four brothers, Edward, Verne, Clarence, and Donald.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 8, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City with Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial was at the French Cemetery, east of Woolstock. Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, was in charge of arrangements.
