Funeral services for Dorothy C. Rasmussen, 76, Dakota City, were held Friday, April 8, at Our
Saviour's Lutheran Church in Humboldt, with burial in the Union Cemetery, Humboldt. She died Wednesday, April 6, at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, following a lengthy illness. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrrangements, with the Rev. Robert Molldrem and the Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Casketbearers were Brian Spellmeyer, Mark Spellmeyer, Roger Spellmeyer, Kenneth Spellmeyer, Delmar Spellmeyer, Randy Rasmussen, Jeff Lack, and Joseph Lack.Survivors include her husband, Raymond; one son, Ronald Rasmussen of Humboldt; one daughter, Joellen Polesek of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; and one brother, Carl Spellmeyer of Dakota City. Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Viola and Ethel; and five
brothers, George, Clarence, Vemon, Royal and William Spellmeyer.Dorothy C. Spellmeyer, daughter of Gottlieb and Otilla (Ackert) Spellmeyer, was born Aug. 20, 1917, at Roberts, Illinois. She moved to the Eagle Grove community in 1924, graduating from high school there in 1937. In 1941, she was united in marriage to Raymond Rasmussen at Trenton, Missouri. The couple made their home near Renwick and later lived in the Eagle Grove area, farming there until 1959. They lived in Eagle Grove, where she was employed for several years by the Wilson Packing Company. In 1970, the couple moved to Logansport, Indiana, and then to Dakota City in 1979.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Humboldt.
