ELVIRA NADINE REED
Elvira Nadine Frakes was born May 20,1924, the daughter of Walter and Laura Baker Frakes at Woolstock. She received her education in the Woolstock school system.
She was united in marriage to Lester (Buster) Reed of Hardy on July 4, 1943, at her parents home in Eagle Grove. The couple lived on the Wergeland farm near Hardy following their marriage. They made Eagle Grove their permanent home in 1950. Since moving to Eagle Grove, she has been employed with Dillard's Cleaners, the M&M Cafe, the Meredith Corporation and her more recent employment was as a bartender/waitress for CJ.'s Lounge.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.
Elvira Reed died at her home in Eagle Grove on January 10, at the age of 69 years, seven months, and 20 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Charles, Melvin, Walter and Gale; a sister, Jean Frakes; a grandson, Terry and a step-son, Tommy.
She is survived by her sons; Stanley of Livermore, and Terry, of Eagle Grove; step-sons, Arland Reed and Albert Reed; daughter Mrs. Leo (Penny Lynn) Gonzalez of Mission, Texas; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a step-grandchild, Lesley Herndon; two brothers, Earl Frakes of Des Moines, and Royce Frakes of Eagle Grove; three sisters, Mrs. Waldo (Evelyn) Widmann of Stratford, Mrs. Jim (Dorothy) Wilson, and Mrs. Bill (Linda) Norton, both of Eagle Grove.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 14 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Omar Pettersen officiated at the 1 p.m. service and burial was in Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.
Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
