January 23, 1915 ---- May 12, 2005

Frances Sybil Allen, 90, of Eagle Grove, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father David Beckman officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery.

Frances S. Allen was born January 23, 1915, the daughter of Dr. Edwin and Mary (Schmoker) Schwendemann, near Duncombe in rural Webster County. She attended Fort Dodge public schools and graduated from Erie High School in Erie, Colorado. She also graduated from Fort Dodge Mercy School of Nursing where she received her R.N. degree. On July 3, 1935, she married Francis "Frank" T. Allen in Fort Dodge. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild, Cecilian Music Club, a charter member of the Fort Dodge String Orchestra, and a violinist with the Messiah Presentation Orchestra. She was a past member of the Care Review Committee for Rotary Ann Home and a Pre-Cana Counselor.

She is survived by her children: Kay Thomas and her husband. Butch, of Fort Dodge; Richard Allen, and his wife, Wyn Ann, of Eagle Grove; Terry Allen and his wife, Cheryl, of Altoona; and Connie Koester and her husband, Larry, of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren: Cathy, Linda, Michael, Francis, Chris, Charles, Tiffany, Desiree, Donnie, Chris, Tyler, Molly, Ian, Mailary, and Krista; great grandchildren: Wynde, Jennifer, Bryce, Cameron, Caydon, Jenna, and Carol Ann, a brother, Richard Mann and his wife, Dorothy, of Minneapolis; and a brother-in-law, Charles Davis, of Sioux Falls, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Jay T. Allen; a sister, Virginia G. Davis; and two grandchildren, Wynde Allen, and Raymond Allen. The Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
