Graveside committal services were held for Andre Batalla, 75, Thursday, May 17, at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Rev. Wayne Dressier officiating. Mr. Batalla died Saturday, May 5, at Southfield Care Center in Webster City, where he had resided for one month. He had formerly been a resident at Country Meadows. The Foster Funeral Home of Webster City was in charge of arrangements.
Andre Alfred Jean Batalla was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Paris, France. He was educated in Marseille,
France. He served with the French Military in Morocco. He came to the United States in 1950; first to New York, N.Y., then to Woolstock. Mr. Batalla worked as a professional photographer in the Fort Dodge, Webster City, and Eagle Grove areas. He was also employed at the gypsum plant in Fort Dodge, and Promeco in Eagle Grove. He retired in 1968. He is survived by a cousin, Renee Peres of France. Mr. Batalla was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.Daily Freeman Journal -- Webster City, Iowa

Man From France Arrives to Make Home In Woolstock
Andrew Batalla of Marseille, France, arrived Thursday in Woolstock to make his home with Mrs. Celine Hanus and Jean Guyader, who came to America several years ago.
