Nils Fredrik Swanson was born at Silleruds, Wermland, Sweden, Feb. 2, 1857, and died in his home, 814 N Eagle Ave., Eagle Grove, Ia., Oct. 28, 1931, age 74 years, eight months and 26 days.
He was baptized into Christ Jesus and instructed and confessed his Christian faith in the Silleruds church in Wermland. On the 27th of August, 1886, he was united in marriage to Miss Wilhelmina Larson. They engaged in farming at Nas in Wermland. In May, 1897, Mr. Swanson emigrated to U. S. A., coming to Iowa, in November that same year, he sent for his family to join him and locating in Eagle Grove, where they have lived for 34 years.
Four children were born into their home, George, Alma, Ruth and Gustave. Ruth died Oct. 9, 1918. He is now survived by his wife, Mrs. Wilhelmina Swanson, George at home, Mrs. Alma Ryan of Eagle Grove, and Gustave of Ventura, Calif.; also by three grandchildren and by one sister still living in Sweden.
Mr. Swanson was a very quiet and peace loving man, a kind father and husband, he was industrious and honest in all his ways. Death came suddenly and called him to his final reward.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 30 at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at 2 o'clock from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church of which he was a member. Burial was made in the family plot in Rose Hill cemetery.
