Final Rites For Benjamin Paskin

Benjamin Paskin, 85, died Saturday at the Wass Convalescent Home in Mason City where he had been a patient for sometime.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Wilson chapel. Rev. Robert Kessinger of Goldfield, officiated and burial was in the Glenwood cemetery.

Benjamin Paskin, son of William and Jane Paskin was born in Tipton, Staffordshire, England on September 16, 1864. He was baptized at infancy in the Methodist church in England. At the age of two years he came with his parents to America to Cleveland, Ohio where the family lived one and a half years. They moved to Moingona, Iowa and later to Boone, Iowa where his father and sons worked in the coal mines, where his oldest brother, Thomas was killed.

In 1881 they moved to a farm north of Goldfield, Iowa in which he and his brother, Will Paskin were partners. He helped care for an invalid father until the time of his father’s death and later cared for his aged mother. After his mother’s death in 1918 [1919] his health failed him, and he has been in poor health since that time. Death came as a relief to his long suffering on Saturday, December 10, 1949 at the Wass Convalescent Home at Mason City, where everything was done to relieve his suffering.

He was a man of a retiring and likeable disposition. He never married but remained faithful to his parents as long as they lived.

His father, mother, one brother, Thomas, and one brother, Will, two sisters, Sarah, (Mrs. John Cameron) of Goldfield, Iowa and Jennie (Mrs. Virgil Urbino) formerly of Eugene, Oregon preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his passing several nephews and nieces in and around Goldfield.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 13, 1949 at Wilson Funeral chapel, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Robert R. Kessinger of Goldfield officiated. Burial was held on the family lot in Glenwood cemetery at Goldfield.
