Herman Julius Warm
26 October 1875 -- 2 July 1933

Herman J. Warm, only child of Julius and Augusta Warm, was born in Berlin, Germany on October 26, 1875. When a small child he was baptized la the German Lutheran Church of Berlin.

When he was nine years of age his parents came to this country and located near Waukon, Iowa, later moving to a farm fifteen miles north of Hartley.

He began his career as a railroad man as helper at Harris, Iowa, when sixteen years old. He worked as operator on the Rock Island road and on July first, twenty-nine years ago was employed by the Illinois Central as agent at James, Iowa and for the past twenty-six years has been stationed at Calumet. During these years he has given generously of his time and effort for his town and community. He has served for years as secretary of the school board and at the time of his death was on the last year of his third term as Mayor of Calumet. For many years past he has been a member of Knights of Pythias lodge No. 202.

He was married to Jessie B. Waid at Goldfield, Iowa in June 1902. To this union wore born three children, Clifford E., Geneva D. and Roger Keith, all of whom are at home. They with their mother mourn deeply the loss of a kind, indulgent father.

Outside of the home he will be missed by friends of every age and every walk in life. A genial, friendly man who was never too busy to offer help to friend or acquaintance, it will be many years before the influence of such a life will fade from our midst.

Funeral services were held at the German Evangelical Church at Calumet on Wednesday afternoon Pallbearers were members of the town council.
